Moto G5 Plus vs Redmi Note 4 : Which one is best to buy?

Motorola has launched the next Moto G series phone, named as Moto G5 series that include Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. And whereas, on other hand we have Redmi Note 4, which is perfect budget smartphone, that'sway getting massive response in market. So today, in this article, we will see, which one is better Moto G5 or Redmi Note 4.

Design 

Redmi Note 4 is made up of metal, and plastic from the back top and bottom. Weighs is 165g with 8.5mm thickness. The edges are rounded, and the rear part of the phone is slightly curved that gives good grip. One-handed usage may be a problem. But it will be good for entertainment and such stuff  

Whereas, Moto G5 The design looks premium, especially with Moto icon on the back. It weighs 155 g with 7.7mm tickness. Hence, it will comes comfortably in the palm. 

Overall, the design and feel of the Moto G5 Plus is much better than the Redmi Note 4. However, both the phones feel solid and sturdy in hand.

Performance 

Moto G5 and Redmi note 4, Both phones are powered by 2 GHz, Octa-core, Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 Processor. and in storage, the RAM and ROM vary according to the model. Both phones come in three combinations 2GB RAM/32GB ROM, 3GB RAM/32GB ROM, and 4GB RAM/64GB ROM. Hence, both the phone should perform similarly. 

Camera

Redmi Note 4 rear camera is of 13MP & the front camera 5MP, sensor and 77-degree wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture and sensor and 85-degree wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture respectively. 

The rear camera is 13MP and hardware includes a Sony IMX260 sensor coupled with a lens of large f/1.7 aperture and dual-pixel autofocus. It is the same hardware used on Galaxy S7 series. On the front, it sports a 5MP sensor f/2.2 system. 

Display

Redmi Note 4 have a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920x1080) display. On the other hand, Moto G5 Plus comes with a small 5.2-inch Full HD (1920x1080) display. If you are looking for a compact phone, you should pick Moto G5 Plus. Here the size maybe a issue with Redmi Note 4 because difficult to handling by one hand and will not fit in small hands. But there is a feature i.e One-Handed, Thus by the use of it you can change the size to 4" or 3.5"

Battery

Moto G5 Plus comes with 3000mAh battery, and Redmi Note 4 comes with a larger 4100mAh battery. While G5 Plus supports turbocharging, Redmi Note 4 doesn't support any fast charging technology and takes approx 2:30 Hr for full charging.

The battery on Redmi Note 4 easily lasts for 36 hours with moderate use. We didn't test the battery on Moto G5 Plus, but it should last for a day without any hiccups.

Software 

Redmi Note 4 runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It offers some unique features like support for dual apps, scrolling screenshot, etc. If this will be your first Xiaomi device, you need to invest some time to understand and accustom to this heavy skin.

Moto G5 Plus runs on latest Android 7.0 Nougat. It comes with some new functionalities like dual screen, double tap on 'back' icon to switch apps, etc. Though the upgrade to Android 8.0 is not officially announced, going by the Moto's track record, it would get updated to Android 8.

Which One is Best ?

Since both phones have similar hardware specifications. Atleast from our initial impressions, Moto G5 Plus holds an advantage in the camera department. However, the pricing of Moto G5 Plus may play the spoils sport. The high-end variant of Moto G5 Plus may cost as high as Rs. 18,000 INR. On the flip side, the high-end variant of Redmi Note 4 costs Rs.12,999 INR. If you are primarily buying the phone for a good camera, you better opt for G5 Plus any day or else go for Redmi Note 4. 

Other than this, Moto G5 Plus seems better in terms of design, display, and some other features. While the Redmi Note 4 still excels in the battery department.
